Franke.s Nursery, LLC Cut Your Own Christmas Trees
Let the Franke Family be this years host for your time honored Christmas tradition. Come share with us the sights and sounds of a truly country Holiday. Take a relaxing trip through acres of our most fragrant and beautiful trees. Experience a place where the upcoming Holiday can be anticipated and where the cherished memories of past Christmas's come easily to mind.
Several strong growing seasons have allowed us to open up new fields for our Choose and Cut customers. Our expanded selection will be accessible from the Warner Road South lot and from Boss Road Extension. This will be our only Choose and Cut operation this season as the Boynton Road fields will be left to regenerate.
Tree Varieties Available
Douglas Fir - is a softer, more fragrant variety of tree. The branches are flexible giving a more spreading and drooping look. The needles are dark green or blue green in color and usually 1 to 1 ½ inches long with good retention. They have a sweet fragrance that is often used in holiday potpourri scents.
Fraser Fir - The combination of form, needle retention, dark blue-green color, pleasant scent and excellent shipping characteristics has led to Fraser fir being the most popular Christmas tree species. Needles are soft and short with a silver-blue under hue. Branching is moderately stiff. Needle retention is excellent.
Balsam Fir - Needles are soft, short and dark-green to bluish in appearance. Branches are moderately stiff with an attractive arrangement. Needle retention is fair but retains its pleasing fragrance
Concolor Fir - has good foliage color ranging from medium green to blue. This tree bears a wonderful citrus scent. Needles are soft and range from 1 to 2 inches in length with good retention. Branching is soft to moderate.
White Pine - Needles are soft, long, flexible and bluish-green to silver green in color and are regularly arranged in bundles of five. Branches are very flexible. Needle retention is good to excellent. White pine has very little aroma, but, conversely, is reported to result in fewer allergic reactions than do some of the more aromatic species.
Colorado Blue Spruce - is finding increasing popularity as a Christmas tree as a result of its symmetrical form and attractive blue foliage. Short needles circle the entire branch and are very sharp to the touch. Aroma is pungent and branches are very stiff. It is best to setup your Blue Spruce as a cut Christmas tree later in the Season (preferably after Dec. 1st) as needle retention is fair.
